PINE offers various ways of streaming. You can stream on stages, in virtual booths, and in virtual rooms.
There are several ways of broadcasting:
PINE
RTMP
Embedded video
External Links
Prerecorded videos of the sessions
PINE
When streaming directly through PINE you need to go backstage where you need to check if the web camera and microphone work well.
To enter the backstage you should open the stage in the Attendee App → switch to the session tab → click on three dots in front of the session, and choose the option "Go Backstage".
To enter the backstage in the Virtual Booth, open it in the Attendee app and click "Go backstage". This can be also done from the Company Portal by booth members.
If you need to Go Backstage in the Virtual Room, please open the room and click on the button “Go Backstage”.
In the backstage, you need to check your web camera and micro, then click “Join”. When you are ready for streaming, please click on the button “Go Live” (or “Start Session” on the stage).
RTMP
If you want to stream from another software, you can use RTMP for that.
Navigate to the backstage, switch to RTMP, copy the URL and Key of the session, and paste them into your streaming settings.
When conducting streams through RTMP you have 15 free minutes that are given as a bonus for you to set up the stream.
Please pay attention to the fact that at the end of the session, you need to stop both the session on PINE and your RTMP stream. If you just stop the session, but RTMP streaming will still be active, this stream will be charged as used, as we charge for all the content that you broadcast to PINE via RTMP.
When you are ready, please start your stream by clicking on the “Continue” button on the PINE platform.
Please note that each session has its own key and the link is the same for all sessions.
You can get the streaming key and URL for RTMP in the Media Library as well. Please check how to do it here. Pay attention to that if your RTMP is connected via the Media Library, there will not be any live marker on the stage and the Q&A section.
Moreover, the RTMP broadcasts only video and sound signals, so other custom functions like switching to different languages that are offered by your media service cannot be used in PINE.
Embedded Video
You can use links to the stream from other media players and services. These custom links can be added to the Media Library. Please check how to add a link to a media library in this article.
In this case, the stream can be launched from the media tab on the stage → just click on the media you want to play.
Please note that if you are uploading the link for your stream in the media library, the live marker and Q&A tab will not be shown for your stream.
NOTE: If you have RTMP stream connected through the media library and turned on in the media tab on the stage, please make sure that you switched the stream off in the media tab or switched it to the screensaver image (set it to default).
Otherwise, the platform will count RTMP streaming hours in the billing.
External Links
If you choose an external link as a streaming source and add a link to a 3rd party service, you do not need to launch streams on the PINE platform.
Attendees just need to click on the button "Launch Stream" to be redirected to your streaming player (i.e. Zoom).
Please note that the launch stream button becomes available on the day when this session is scheduled.
Prerecorded videos
Streams can be also prerecorded and shown on the stage as a live session. These videos can be added by speakers to a Speaker Hub or uploaded to a particular session. Please be informed that it is not possible to stream pre-recorded media on the Test Drive plan.
In the Speaker Hub speakers can upload their recorded videos if they do not need to go live → just click on the button “Upload Video”.
These files speakers need to upload to the speaker hub in advance.
If you're uploading files, please note that you can use mp4 format only and the maximum file size is 5 GB!
If you are adding your video to a session, please go to the sessions tab in the attendee app and click on the three dots in front of the session you need. Then please choose the option Upload Video.
If you are going to stream a pre-recorded video, please make sure you have added additional 20-30 seconds at the beginning and at the end of your video, so all attendees can see the stream from the very beginning till the end. This is important as due to some technical issues (network connection, internet speed, etc), attendees may miss some speech parts in the beginning/end.
When you need to start streaming an uploaded video, please go to the stage → open the session tab → click on three dots in front of the session to which you have uploaded your link, and choose the option Start Video.
